AUCKLAND TENNIS CENTRE
The ASB Tennis Arena at the edge of Auckland Domain near the city centre, is the national tennis stadium of New Zealand. It hosts two of the major annual tennis events on the ATP circuit, part of the lead-up to the Australian Open.
Location: Auckland NZ
The concept took five years in its gestation and in obtaining numerous legislative approvals - which included an Act of Parliament.
The project emerged from a partnership between Next Generation Clubs and Tennis Auckland, with the aim to create a world-class facility.
The second stage of the project is to complete the spectator concourse and amenities around the Centre, with an innovative tension membrane structural dome over Court no.1 that incorporates a sliding roof.
