Without taking additional area on Corran School’s tight suburban site, this building replaced the existing single storey art rooms, moved the Art Department to new accommodation at first floor level and provided three new classrooms at ground level.
Location: Auckland NZ
The project responds to the brief by providing clean open spaces, saturated with natural air and daylight.
Design and construction was achieved to an extremely fast schedule, because the Art Block could not be put out of use during school time.
Construction was contained within the Christmas break between terms - a period of just seven weeks.
The new two-storey building, fully serviced, fitted and equipped, was ready for use at commencement of the new school term on January 30 2001.
