The club’s new buildings are at the corner of Cornwall Park adjacent to a residential district close to Auckland’s centre.
Location: Auckland NZ
The design adopts timber clad gabled forms respecting the Park’s strict planning requirements to maintain its rural character.
The uninterrupted interior of the roof resembles the upturned hull of a vessel.
This is intended as a reminder of the clubs traditions and a place for ancient honours boards and photographs.
Entry is via the south side veranda, which overlooks the bowling greens.
Large ADLUX louvred skylights admit controlled daylight deep into the plan, so that the games can be watched from the refuge of internal spaces with the sun on your back.
Underneath the soffit, the veranda extends around the perimeter of the built.
