This laboratory for testing air and water purity is a single-storey deep-plan high-bay building.  The roof forms a services ‘umbrella’ providing all utilities (except drainage) to the laboratory from overhead. All services systems are organized into horizontal zones within the roof space, and delivered to the laboratory enclosure by means of a complex co-ordination of componentry at the ceiling plane.

The building provides an extremely flexible and efficient environment for changing scientific technologies and requirements, and was achieved to a tight commercial budget.
